NOTE: This 100hr course is the first module of our Teacher Training program. It can be done as a standalone yoga studies course to develop and deepen your yoga practice. It also gives you the option to continue on and complete our full 500-hour Yoga Teacher Training if you wish.
Truly understanding what yoga is all about can be difficult if our only experience of yoga is a 1-hour group class every week.
To really know yoga, we must combine intellectual learnings with our own embodied and felt personal experiences.
We invite you to come explore the illuminating wisdom of what yoga is really all about. You don't have to be on a pathway to one day be a yoga teacher; all you need is a love of yoga, a sense that there's so much more to know, and to feel ready yourself to let yoga change your life for the better!
“Yoga is so much more versatile and far-reaching than I ever realised!"
"I am very grateful to Michael for being such a knowledgeable, caring, and inspiring teacher and mentor"
"I was thrilled to be given such personalised guidance and genuine care on my learning journey"
We would love to chat with you and help you with your research and questions.
This course will give you invaluable knowledge of the core principles of yoga and an experiential understanding of how to apply those principles in practice.
The 100-hour course allows for an optional extra 30-hour course as an add-on. The Yoga Anatomy course is an excellent companion course to the 100-hour course, providing you a new lens through which to see your personal practice.
You will gain additional knowledge in the skilful application of your asana and pranayama techniques, keeping you safer, making your personal practice better tailored for your body's needs as well as more meaningful and nourishing, and benefitting from a deeper gratitude and appreciation of the amazing human body.
The course involves some pre-learning at home, which is then brought to life in the studio in Cammeray over 4 separate days.
Successful completion of the optional Anatomy course entails an additional 30-hour certificate, to acknowledge your studies. This fantastic add-on is available to our 200-hour students for only an additional $500, representing outstanding value!
If you think you might like to continue on and do the full 500-hour course, we recommend undertaking the Anatomy course from the outset in conjunction with your 100-hour course, to smooth your journey and workload. The 4 study days are in accordance with our 500-hour schedule and are spread across the year, so you will return to Cammeray to join the 500-hour students for the 3rd and 4th anatomy lessons in the studio, in the second half of the year.
You can read more about the optional Anatomy course here.

The 100hr Yoga Studies & Teacher Training Foundations course is the first module of The Yoga Institute's registered Yoga Teacher Training Course. Completing this module gives you the first step toward becoming a registered yoga teacher.
Yoga Australia has determined that the minimum training requirement to become a registered yoga teacher in Australia and be eligible for full membership of the association, requires a yoga teacher to have completed at least 350 hours of training over a minimum of 1 year.
Our approach to Yoga is based on the world-renowned teachings from the tradition and lineage of T Krishnamacharya (often described as the ‘father of modern yoga’) and his son TKV Desikachar.
The focus is on integrating all aspects of yogic practice including asana, pranayama, meditation, mantra, mudras, philosophy and psychology, and adapting all practices to the individual. The emphasis is on applying the ancient wisdom and practices of yoga to the challenges of modern lives.
As Krishnamacharya said: “Yoga must be made to suit the individual, not the individual to suit the yoga.”
For those who wish to participate in a course for their own personal development and experience of Yoga, and do not wish to go on to become certified as Yoga Teachers, no formal assessments are required.
To be eligible to go on to further studies to gain certification and registration as a Yoga Teacher or Yoga Therapist, a variety of assessments are required. These include demonstration of knowledge, competencies and skills relevant to each course unit and commitment to regular personal Yoga practice.
Minimum of 80% attendance is required for completion of the module. In special circumstances, alternative arrangements may be made with the course director to meet the requirements of the course.
Completion of this course gives you eligibility for further training including our full 500-Hour Yoga Teacher Training course. Or for our Yoga Therapy Training Course if you are a 200hr trained yoga teacher.
I want to learn more about:
You will need access to a computer/desktop/laptop, so you can access the learning portal at home to read, watch and study at your leisure at home, in between visits to Cammeray.
Ideally you will also have a yoga mat at home you can use.
Lastly, we encourage you to help those who share your household grow accustomed to your need for quiet reflection, practice and study time, on a regular basis each week.
