Finding a path to peace
So many of us struggle to find peace in amongst the responsibilities and schedules of our busy lives. It can seem impossible to access moments of quiet. Even when we physically take a break from the ‘busyness’, our minds keep running.
You might experience this in your own life or you might see it play out in the lives of your students or clients.
There are so many practices and resources available to try to address the stress and overwhelm that can overtake us when life feels like it’s ‘all too much’, but many fail to get to the root cause of the problem or bring lasting change.
iRest yoga nidra practice is a powerful and transformative set of tools and techniques that cuts through to uncover and release us from the underlying issues that hold us back from accessing the quiet, peaceful place that exists within all of us.
This is a live face to face valuable learning workshop and the only iRest Level 1 Training offered in Sydney in 2020 …
What is iRest?
iRest is a complete yoga nidra meditation practice emphasising deep, heartfelt listening and welcoming, which in turn produces profound healing for yourself and those you may work with. It incorporates meditative self-inquiry, interactive dialogue, mind/body deep rest and guided relaxations.
This training teaches you everything you need to know to incorporate the simple 10-step iRest protocol into your personal life, professional teaching or clinical practice.
iRest can be used in many settings including a personal meditation or yoga practice, private and group meditation and yoga classes, physical therapy, massage therapy, social work, clinical and medical settings, alternative or integrative medical practices as well as in-job training and job resiliency programs.
How does it work?
iRest is a meditation protocol that is integrative, as it heals unresolved issues and traumas, and restorative, as it helps us recognise the underlying peace of mind that is always present amidst the changing circumstances in life.
iRest is effective and easy to use and has been proven to support the healing process for people facing many of life’s most common challenges, including chronic pain, sleeping problems, high stress, depression, anxiety and post-trauma issues.
In this Level 1 Training, you’ll learn:
- The principles, practice and profound healing benefits of the iRest meditation protocol.
- How to weave iRest into your existing personal practice or develop a regular practice.
- How to teach and deliver iRest in group and individual settings to facilitate positive change and healing for others.
Following the Level 1 Training, you will:
- Experience the freedom and peace that comes from being able to deeply rest your entire being.
- Join a global community of teachers teaching iRest in yoga studios, sleep clinics, rehabilitation and healthcare facilities, hospice, prisons, universities, schools, as well as in private practice.
- Be able to list yourself on the IRI website as an ‘iRest Level 1 Teacher’
- Access our free ‘Teacher Resources’ and join our ‘Teachers Community Network’ membership program for further personal and professional support
- Be recommended by IRI to people seeking iRest teachers in their local area.

About our Senior iRest Trainer
Fuyuko Sawamura-Toyota is a certified iRest® Senior Trainer, Retreat Leader and Supervisor/Mentor. For the past 20 years she has been deeply committed on the path of Yoga and ancient Non-dual wisdom. She is also a qualified Hatha Yoga teacher since 1996.
She incorporates iRest and Self-Inquiry in her teachings of Yoga, Somatic body awareness and meditation at her yoga studio “Prema Yoga” on the Gold Coast, Australia and internationally.
In 2007, Richard Miller, her spiritual mentor, brought to Fuyuko a deeper understanding of living life in a non dual way. From a life of ever deepening joy, astonishment and Stillness, a heartfelt desire to share these precious teachings has sprung forth. She teaches and hosts iRest trainings and retreats in Australia. She has been assisting iRest trainings in North America for Richard Miller and other senior trainers.
“Fuyuko Sawamura-Toyota brings her rich, varied, and decades of experience as both a student and teacher immersed in the various paths of yoga (karma, bhakti, hatha, raja, Jñâna), to the offerings she shares with students, including group and private classes, workshops, retreats, and trainings. She has dedicated her life to service, and to offering in-depth teachings that are informed by the eastern and western nondual wisdom traditions of self-inquiry and meditation.
I deeply respect Fuyuko for how she integrates her grounded presence and deep passion for truth, beauty, love and community when teaching yoga and iRest meditation practices. I thoroughly enjoy working with Fuyuko in the various responsibilities she’s involved in at the iRest Institute (IRI) including her role as 1) an iRest Trainer, 2) Certified iRest Teacher, and 3) iRest Supervisor for students fulfilling their iRest Certification.
I am deeply grateful for Fuyuko’s ability to bring these precious nondual teachings forward into the world. I hope you take advantage of sharing time with Fuyuko in her upcoming offerings.”

Course Recognition – Continuing Professional Development
Approximately 30 CPD hours
These points are recognised by Yoga Australia.
Australian Psychological Society (APS) CPD Points
For those of you who attended iRest Level 1 training and who are psychologists, the APS provides the following information regarding CPD points:
“Registered psychologists are required to complete a set number of continuing professional development (CPD) hours as a requirement of ongoing registration. There is no accreditation or approval process for CPD for psychologists, but rather individual psychologists must be able to justify selection of particular CPD according to their individual learning needs.”
Therefore, if you can justify the counting of iRest training towards your continuing professional development as a psychologist (which doesn’t seem difficult given the research about its application and effectiveness for mental health and well being), then you may claim the hours!”
– Dr Emma Spiel: the Victorian Coordinator and Deputy Convener of the National Committee for the APS Psychology and Yoga Interest Group (dated 3 July 2015)
