Mischa Telford

Mischa’s yoga journey began in the 80’s in Adelaide, attending daily classes with Shandor Remete. In 1998, Mischa’s interest in yoga led her to complete the Heart of Yoga teacher training in Sydney, with Mark Whitwell, Mark Breadner and Karen Schaefer (now Buddhist nun Ani Pema). Once she began teaching in 2001, Mischa continued her studies in the tradition of Sri T. Krishnamacharya with Michael de Manincor of The Yoga Institute, Sydney and has recently completed her IAYT accredited Graduate Diploma of Yoga Therapy with Saraswathi Vasudevan in Chennai.

Mischa is a down to earth, deeply nurturing and compassionate teacher, who brings a rich depth of life experience to her work with individuals. Her passion is to see each person’s unique potential revealed through the self- awareness that yoga practice provides. Mischa’s training in massage and Gestalt Psychotherapy provide a broad understanding of embodiment from various perspectives.  Mischa continues her professional development through engagement with leading teachers in the field of  “Yoga and the Traumatised Body.”

Mischa has been teaching in Vaucluse for the past 12 years, where she offers group yoga classes, individual yoga therapy and mentoring for yoga teacher trainees. She is a Senior Level 3 Registered Teacher with Yoga Australia, and has taught in the corporate sector for many of Australia’s top 20 businesses including Macquarie Group and Microsoft.

Mischa actively supports the charitable work of The Yoga Foundation, and in this role has taught yoga to carer’s, veterans and women who have experienced trauma in a domestic violence context. She recently taught “Mindfulness for Creativity in the Workplace” for the Garvan Medical Research Institute.

Apart from yoga, Mischa enjoys travelling, listening to music, dancing, spending time in Nature & living on the South Head of Sydney Harbour with her life partner and 2 Siamese cats.
